NuvaRing Birth Control – Know The Facts

NuvaRing birth control has been found to have DEADLY side effects. Non-oral hormonal contraception, brand name NuvaRing, is a small ring inserted into the vagina monthly in order to prevent pregnancy. The ring contains estrogen and progestin, just like oral birth control pills. The hormones keep the ovaries form producing mature eggs. They also thicken a woman’s cervical mucus, which blocks the sperm from joining the egg. NuvaRing is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. The ring is put in the vagina once a month for three weeks and then removed for the fourth week.

NuvaRing Side Effects

Possible serious side effects of non-oral hormonal contraception:

  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Blood clots in the legs, lungs, heart or brain

  • You are over 35 years old
  • You are overweight

NuvaRing Lawsuits

NuvaRing litigation regarding blood clotting side effects are being consolidated before U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel. The Judicial Panel on Multi-district Litigation consolidated the NuvaRing cases on August 22,2008, then transferred the cases to Judge Sippel. A “Status” hearing is scheduled for June 21, 2013 to inform Judge Sippel about more than 1,090 lawsuits involved in the NuvaRing litigation. There are six trial pool cases that claim that the use of NuvaRing caused women injuries, and that the manufacturer of NuvaRing failed to adequately warn of the risks associated with the use of the contraceptive, and/or that NuvaRing is otherwise defective and unreasonably dangerous.

It's not uncommon for pharmaceuticals to be associated with adverse effects or serious side effects. However, drug manufacturers and sellers have certain responsibilities to the public, including:

  • Exercising reasonable care in drug development, manufacturing, inspection, and labeling.
  • Informing the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the public of any side effects.
  • Advertising in a truthful and non-misleading way.

As a consumer and patient, you have the right to trust that your medication is safe. This is not always the case. When a pharmaceutical company acts negligently, its actions can result in serious side effects. Victims however, may have a remedy by bringing a product liability claim against the drug's maker.
